Motor Gasoline Benzene Removal Project

Process modification project aimed at reducing benzene in motor gasoline to comply with emerging regulatory limits. Work in progress: milestones are being built out in order.

Where to Start

If you’re picking up this project for the first time:

  1. Read the Wiki home page for the index of job aids and reference material.
  2. Work through the milestones below in order. Each link opens that milestone’s Issue, where its checklist and discussion thread live.

Milestones

Milestone Issue
Stakeholder Alignment & Framing #1
Design Ideation #2
Final Design Selection & Endorsement #3
Create PFD for Selected Design #4
Software Selection & Management of Change Process #9
Flowsheet Model Setup #5
Model Development #6
Model Validation #7
Economic Analysis & Optimization #8
Closeout & Handoff #10

For a view across all milestones, use the Backlog or Kanban Board, and filter by milestone to see one milestone’s tasks.

This project follows the shared milestone template with no deviations.

This is a fictional, illustrative scenario — not the actual history of any real company’s design discussions, technology choices, or regulatory timeline. Actual industry design discussions of this kind are typically closely guarded, both for competitive reasons and to maintain antitrust compliance between companies. The scenario is constructed purely to demonstrate work product and socialization integration across every milestone of a project. See the Process Engineering hub for the shared teaching philosophy this project follows.

For a successful project, stakeholder engagement and knowledge capture are just as critical as the technical work.
